400M 'Pool' Swim
Whether swimming is your thing or something you'll train hard to complete, all levels of swimmer are welcome at Tri Cheddar. Breast stroke, front crawl, maybe a bit of doggy paddle!

Our sprint triathlon swim distance is 400 meters. The swim takes place in a 25m indoor pool. You will swim 16 lengths, each lane has 3-4 participants swimming at one time. You are grouped together with others of the same ability so your get clear water ahead. Looking for a shorter swim take a look at our super sprint event.
20K 'Open Road' Bike
Once you have completed transition one (T1) its on to the bike, the sprint triathlon features an 'open road' 20K loop. This means that you are sharing the road with other road users and should follow the highway code at all times.
The loop takes riders up the famous Cheddar Gorge climb leading you to the top of the Mendip hills (AONB). Continue along the undulating road towards Charter House and beyond, taking in the beautiful Velvet Bottom, a view of Rowberrow woods and maybe a glimpse of the sea. This is a challenging but fun course, if the goats can climb it so can you!
Looking for a shorter bike route without the climb then take a look at our super sprint event.
5K Run
After swapping your bike for your running shoes in transition 2 (T2) you have made it to the run. The 5K out and back course is run on a mix of grass and tarmac along the old Strawberry line footpath with a largely flat course. Cheddar is also home to Jacobs ladder so we have found you a baby Jacobs ladder just for fun as you come in to take your final glory lap around Kings sports field and reach the finish line.
