Get Involved
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Even if you’re not interested in participating, volunteering at Tri Cheddar events is a great way to get involved. There’s tons of details and logistics that go into successfully planning and executing this kind of event, so all extra hands are appreciated.
Our Story
My first taste of Triathlon was about 12 years ago at the Burnham-On-Sea super sprint. 8 years later, in 2019 I entered the Torbay Sprint Triathlon the event took place the day before my 44th birthday. I bought a £10 swimsuit from Sports Direct, (it looked like a trisuit to me!) Classy pink goggles, my trusty bike with a couple of gears and I was set to go! I had built up my swim in practice managing to do one length to the 16 needed, I pushed as hard as I could on the bike, the run just 2 laps of the field, 5km and my legs were like jelly. As I got over the finish line I was a champ, I was buzzing, surely I'd won, the British Olympic team wanted to sign me up right?.... Oh no, I'd just won my own personal race. I'd got round and I made it across the finish line... I loved it!
I love it so much and have got so much out of it and met some amazing people that I wanted to share the love of Tri with others. What better place than in my home village, where there just happens to be an iconic bike climb, lots of cheese, strawberries and cider!
